Prof. David Zweig
Principal Investigator


David Zweig is Chair Professor, Division of Social Science, and Director, Center on China's Transnational Relations, The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology. He is a Senior Research Fellow at the Asia-Pacific Foundation of Canada; Vice President of the Center on China's Globalization (CCG) in Beijing; and Adjunct Professor, National University of Defense Technology, Changsha, China. Previously he was a Non-Resident Fellow for China, Pacific Council on International Policy, Los Angeles, CA. He is one of the world's leading specialists on China's reverse migration of human talent, and has worked closely with China's Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security in China on this topic. He, himself, was an overseas student in China in 1974-76. In June 2012, he presented his views on China's strategy on reverse migration to Li Yuanchao, then head of the Organization Department of the Chinese Communist Party (now Vice-President). He also specializes in China's search for resources and his 2005 article, "China's Global Search for Oil," was the most downloaded article in Foreign Affairs in 2005. His new book, called "US-China Energy Triangles: Resource diplomacy under hegemony," was released from Routledge in July 2015.

Asst. Prof. Vedat AKMAN is currently resident academician at Beykent University, Istanbul. He is graduated from CUNY Brooklyn College with BA and MA, Nottingham University LL.M, Fordham University MBA and Kadir Has University Ph.D degrees. He has many books and articles published mainly in Turkish and also in English. He is the founder of EMAJ Emerging Markets Journal and CINEJ Cinema Journal both published by Pittsburgh University Library System ULS. He is also the founding father of JCI Istanbul Crossroads International Immigration themed Short Film Festival. All his founding projects are over decade old and are still very active. Assist. Prof. Cevdet Kızıl

Assistant Professor Cevdet Kızıl heads the Accounting-Finance Branch at Istanbul Medeniyet University's Department of Management. He earned his undergraduate degree from Istanbul University, Department of Business Administration. He then completed his MBA and M.S. in Organizational Leadership at Southern New Hampshire University. After earning a full scholarship, Dr. Kızıl attained his Finance and Banking Ph.D. from Kadir Has University, Istanbul. Dr. Kızıl is also a Certified Public Accountant (CPA). He has several books and scientific papers published nationally and internationally. Dr. Kızıl serves as a reviewer for many accounting, finance and business journals. He has best publication performance awards and excellence in teaching awards from Yalova University, academic excellence award from DMD and best paper award from World Academy of Social Sciences.

Prof. A. Didar Singh

Secretary General of FICCI

Dr. A. Didar Singh, a former civil servant of the Indian Administrative Service (IAS) took over as Secretary General of FICCI from November 2012. He retired as Secretary to Government of India in the Ministry of Overseas Indian Affairs. Prior to this he served as Member (Finance), National Highways Authority of India; Joint Secretary in the Ministry of Heavy Industries; and before that in the Ministry of Commerce (Foreign Trade). Dr. Singh is an internationally known strategy expert in e-Commerce, Trade and Migration and has done several studies for international agencies, including the International Trade Centre; World Health Organization; and South Centre, Geneva as well as the Commonwealth Secretariat, London. He has three books and several publications to his credit.
Natasha Chhabra

Natasha Chhabra leads the work of the International Migration cell in the Federation of the Chambers of Commerce and Industry. She has an abiding interest in the causes and consequences of migration. She also has experience of working in a think tank for the Government of India on issues of international migration and development. She is the co-author of a book on international migration governance.

Natasha holds a Master's degree in Development Studies from the London School of Economics, UK and a Bachelor's degree in Economics from the Fergusson College, Pune.

Ashima Marwaha

Honorary Consultant, FICCI

Ashima Marwaha is currently an Honorary Consultant at FICCI. Prior to this, she was working with FICCI as an Assistant Director. She has worked with various departments at FICCI including South Asia, International Migration and a FICCI allied body- the International Chamber of Commerce.

She has extensive experience of working in the area of research and developmental activities. She has led FICCI's projects on private sector development and promotion of Indian innovations in Afghanistan. She has authored various FICCI publications.

Prof. M. Emin Karahan, Rector of Beykent University

Prof. M. Emin Karahan
Prof. M. Emin Karahan is a graduate of Istanbul Technical University as Construction Engineer from Department of Civil Engineering and Architecture in 1971. He received his PhD degree from the same faculty in 1975. Prof. Emin Karahan did his postdoctoral research work at the University of Alberta between 1977-79 in Canada. He became Professor at the Civil Engineering Faculty of Istanbul Technical University in 1988. He served 30 years at İstanbul Technical University and was awarded merit for his distinguished services.

He is a member of Turkey Chamber of Civil Engineers and the American Society of Civil Engineers ASCE. He has many publications national and international which received over 200 citations since 2010. He received prestigious "İzzettin Silica distinguished educators" award from ITU. He successfully completed many high level administrative duties at Istanbul Technical University including as Vice-Rector. He has been acting as the Rector of Beykent University since 2010. He is a member of Higher Education Council Board (UAK) in Turkey.

 
Asst. Prof. İsmail Erkan Çelik

Asst. Prof. İsmail Erkan Çelik is a graduate of John Moores University with a degree at Architecture. He received MIS degree from Beykent University and PhD degree from Marmara University. Since year 2000, Asst.Prof. Çelik is the Vice Chairman of the Board of Trustees at Beykent University and also the General Secretary of the Directorate of Vocational School at Beykent. Çelik family is very much committed to higher education in Turkey. As Board Member of the Çelik Foundation, they have contributed greatly to education system in Turkey. Asst.Prof. Çelik is also the founder of Beykent Television. He is a member of many national and international professional organizations and received 2015 TOYP Turkey award from JCI for his achievements.

Prof. Dr. Nezih Hekim

Nezih Hekim is Professor in Clinical Chemistry Dept. At Beykent University School of Medicine. He earned his Ph.D in Biochemistry from Marmara University, Health Sciences Institute. He is board member and vice president of Turkish Molecular Medicine Association. Formerly board member of TUBITAK – Turkish Government, Research Institute for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology. He is also board member of Genkord Tissue Banki Istanbul. He also lectures in Molecular Biology and Genetic Dept. Of Istanbul Technical University. He worked as scientist in Max-Planck Institute, Experimental Endocrinology, Hannover. He was awarded with Max-Planck Institute fellowship. He was also predoctoral fellow in Bergen University Hormon Laboratory, Norway. He was awarded with NORAD fellowship. He has many national and international publications and researches with numerous citations.

Ms. Öznur Akman

Öznur Akman (CPA) is a graduate of Fordham University - New York with an MBA degree. She also has an MBA degree from Kadir Has University-Istanbul too. She is currently an Ph.D candidate at T.C. Beykent University - Istanbul. She has been an Certified Public Accountant (CPA) in Istanbul since 1998. She is an senator at Junior Chamber International (JCI) since 2008.
